Occasionally as an administrator, you want to be able to log onto via our Citrix PNAgent with different credentials for testing. Depending on your farm setup, pass-through authentication is most likely enabled, and hence your client will be the same. To disable this on your workstation.
1. Open the registry and browse to: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider\HwOrder
2. Open ProviderOrder string, delete the entry PnSson
3. Now browse to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider\Order and delete the entry PnSson
When installing applications on multiuser environment such as a Terminal/Citrix server, you must put the server into install mode, either via the command prompt or using Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.
To put the server into install mode using command prompt type: change user /install
To put server back to execute mode after you’ve finished installing the app, type: change user /execute
When you install the application in Install mode, and information normally written to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER key will be written to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Terminal Server\Install
This key is then copied back to HKEY_CURRENT_USER when the user logs on to the Terminal/Citrix Server.
This message “Please Wait For The User Profile Service” could show up upon logon to a Windows 2008 Servers. This could potentially be due to the problem server having multiple NIC’s, and routing is via the NIC that is not production. Disable the NIC.
Installing SEP v11 maintenance release 2 or earlier, on a Citrix server could bring it to a grinding hault when users start logging onto the Citrix server. You will notice multiple instances of smcgui.exe and ccapp.exe in the task manager -> processes.
Note: That this issue was resolve with SEP v11 MR3
To resolve this problem you need to perform the follow registry optimisations:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SMC\LaunchSmcGui = 0
Locate the ccApp entry in the following registry key and delete it :
For 32 bit OS :-
For 64 bit OS :-
In a large Citrix environment, it’s very important the order in which you install the Rollup Packs
Before installing the rollup packs, the following needs to be done:
- Perform a backup of the datastore
- Ensure IMA service is running
- Ensure there are no connectios on the server
Citrix recommend the following order of deploying the hotfixes
- backup ZDC
- Database connection server (Resource Manager)
- Primary farm metric server (Resource Manager)
- Backup farm metric server (Resource Manager)
- Member servers

I ran into a problem where I was trying to uninstall XenApp5 from my Windows 2008 server. The uninstall process initially gather’s information about the application installed, and then an error message pops up and kicks off your RDP session, or it simply can’t uninstall XenApp

Essentially you need to open command prompt, browse to the directory where your source mps.msi file is. I copied the source CD to the server so it’s C:\Installs\XA50_WS2008_EN\XenApp Server\w2k8 then type the command:
msiexec /x mps.msi /L*v c:\output.log CTX_MF_FORCE_SUBSYSTEM_UNINSTALL=Yes
